When compared to printed cavity-backed spirals, slot spiral antennas offer the possibility of designs that are conformal and very thin. We discuss the physical characteristics of a cavity-backed slot spiral, as well as the associated infinite balun and termination designs.

Dualband DRA-slot hybrid slot antenna
2007 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2007A dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is placed on top of a slotted cavity to form a hybrid antenna. An L-probe is placed inside the cavity to feed the zonal slot, cut onto the cavity, and the DRA simultaneously. Ansoft HFSS was used to analyze the proposed hybrid antenna, which provides a dual-band operation.

A cavity-backed slot antenna is proposed. The antenna is theoretically and experimentally studied. The antenna consists of a slot cut in a ground plane and backed by shorting strips, forming a backing cavity. Experimental studies of the antenna show a 2:1 VSWR input impedance bandwidth of more than 20%.

Annular slot windshield antenna
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1998This paper discusses the development of a conformal automobile antenna for the AM/FM band. It is implemented by using a heat reduction metal film imbedded in the windshield to create an annular gap or slot at the circumference. Impedance characteristics and gain patterns are shown.
