Strip-loaded horizontal slot waveguide

Optics Letters, 2017
We introduce a novel concept for an optical waveguide called a strip-loaded slot waveguide. It allows an extraordinary confinement of the field in a waveguide with an extremely tiny (vertical) cross section. Unlike conventional slot waveguides, the proposed configuration has potential for very low propagation losses.

Silicon slot waveguide Fano resonator

Optics Letters, 2018
The growing interest for Fano resonators during the past decade is due to the narrow line shape observable in their optical spectra. The drastic phase shift occurring at the resonance yields a steep drop from a high to low amplitude. Fano resonances can be obtained by a combination of nanostructures.

Waveguide slot applicators for microwave heating

17th International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics and Communications, 2003. ICECom 2003., 2004
In this paper we present an empirical procedure to design microwave slot array applicators for heating lossy dielectric slabs. To this end, a commercial simulation code has been used to characterize the behaviour of a slot radiating on a dielectric slab with a given complex permittivity.

Plasmonic Slot Waveguides

2010
This chapter investigates the properties of the modes supported by three-dimensional subwavelength plasmonic slot waveguides. It shows that the fundamental mode supported by a symmetric plasmonic slot waveguide, composed of a subwavelength slot in a thin metallic film embedded in an infinite homogeneous dielectric, is always a bound mode.

Waveguide matching crossed-slot

IEE Proceedings - Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, 2003
A matching crossed-slot, which is accommodated at the shorted end of a waveguide crossed-slot array and radiates all the residual power with circular polarisation in an array beam direction, is analysed and designed by the method of moments (MoM). The eigenmode functions for a crossed-slot derived numerically by the edge-based finite element method ...

TEM-modes In Slot-coupled Waveguides

27th European Microwave Conference and Exhibition, 1997
TEM-modes which are usually expressed in terms of a scalar electric potential o are shown to be derivable from a scalar magnetic potential ? if the supporting transmission line can be considered a slot coupled waveguide with more than one coupling slot.

Plasmonic Slot Waveguides with Core Nonlinearity

Plasmonics, 2013
We analytically study the interplay between group velocity dispersion and material dispersion due to femtosecond ultrafast pulse inside plasmonic slot waveguides with nonlinear dielectric core. The analytic investigation of the role of the core nonlinearity on pulse propagation has been investigated. Interestingly, our model shows that the focusing and

Lossless strip-to-slot waveguide transformer

Optics Letters, 2007
We present a highly efficient integratable waveguide transformer that is capable of converting Gaussian-like waveguide modes to much more complicated non-Gaussian-like slot-waveguide modes, and vice versa. The structure consists of several pairs of complementary tapers capable of making this mode conversion virtually lossless.

NOEMS devices based on Slot-Waveguides

2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), 2007
We present device applications for Nano-Opto-Electro-Mechanical System (NOEMS) structures based on the evanescent-wave bonding acting on silicon slot-waveguides. Useful all- optical or electrooptical functionalities include: phase modulation, polarization mode dispersion, near-field probing and reconfigurable optical delay.
