Optical nonlinearity and feedback through Bragg periodicity are the basic ingredients for light localization into gap solitons. We review the basic concepts and model equations for gap solitons in Kerr and quadratic nonlinear media encompassing a one-dimensional Bragg resonance.

Summary: We investigate propagation of slow-light solitons in atomic media described by the nonlinear \(\Lambda\)-model. Under a physical assumption, appropriate to the slow light propagation, we reduce the \(\Lambda\)-scheme to a simplified nonlinear model, which is also relevant to 2D dilatonic gravity.

Optical microcavities with high quality factors Q are of great interest in integrated micro- and nanophotonics. Their narrow resonance and long photon lifetime (τ cav ) can be used in fundamental physics, sensing applications, microwave signal optical processing or for optical delay line and memory miniaturization [1].

Broadband dispersionless topological slow light
Optics Letters, 2020We present a scheme to realize topological slow-light state with low group velocity and vanishing group velocity dispersion. By harnessing the strong interactions between two regular co-propagating topological photonic states in a magneto-optical photonic crystal waveguide, the energy flux transport of light exhibits a peculiar ...

Simultaneous slow and fast light
2011 XXXth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium, 2011Simultaneous slow and fast light requires rf field [Opt. Lett. 35, 64 (2010)], which is inconvenient. We suggest that the rf field can be replaced by lights and thus, the phenomena can be realized optically.
