A basic plasmonic system, consisting of a stub metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguide coupled with a ring resonator, is presented to realize Fano resonance and electromagnetically induced transparency-like (EIT-like) effect, which are numerically ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Gravitational red-shift and deflection of slow light [PDF]
We explore the nature of the classical propagation of light through media with strong frequency-dependent dispersion in the presence of a gravitational field.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Slow-light pulses in moving media
Slow light in moving media reaches a paradoxical regime when the flow speed of the medium approaches the group velocity of light. Pulses can penetrate a region where a counter-propagating flow exceeds the group velocity.

Flatband Slow Wave in Novel Air-Hole-Array Strip Waveguides
We design two novel air-hole-array strip waveguides: one with elliptic air holes and the other with sandglass-shaped ones. Simulation results prove that flatband modes with low group velocity and low dispersion can be obtained.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Transverse Diffusion in Isotropic Light Slowing [PDF]
We have demonstrated the slowing of a beam of cold (180 K) metastable neon atoms in a diffuse reflecting cylindrical cavity with monochromatic light. Using a well-collimated atomic beam entering the cavity, it is shown that stimulated emission has a major effect on the transverse velocity distribution.

Slow light propagation in trapped atomic quantum gases [PDF]
We study semi-classical slow light propagation in trapped two level atomic quantum gases. The temperature dependent behaviors of both group velocity and transmissions are compared for low temperature Bose, Fermi, and Boltzman gases within the local ...
