Equations of a Moving Mirror and the Electromagnetic Field
We consider a system composed of a mobile slab and the electromagnetic field. We assume that the slab is made of a material that has the following properties when it is at rest: it is linear, isotropic, non-magnetizable, and ohmic with zero free charge ...

CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Stability of implicit self-tuning controllers for time-varying systems based on Lyapunov function.
The important issue on self-tuning control includes the stability, performance and convergence of involved recursive algorithms. Based on a Lyapunov function, this paper proves the stability of implicit self-tuning controllers, combining recursive ...

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Adaptive control of a class of slowly time varying systems with modeling uncertainties
In a recent work, a new linear adaptive controller based on certainty-equivalence and backstepping design, which promises a level of transient and asymptotic performance comparable to that of the tuning functions adaptive backstepping controller without using high order nonlinearities, was proposed for linear time invariant systems.

In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

The quantum 2D-harmonic oscillator in 1:1 resonance with time-dependent perturbation : averaging applied to slowly varying quantum systems [PDF]
In this paper we will study the 2D-harmonic oscillator in 1:1 resonance. We add a general third- and fourth order perturbation which is slowly time-dependent, and are interested in the resulting interaction between the unperturbed orbits (states).
