Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Robust Speed Control of PMSM Using Sliding Mode Control (SMC)—A Review

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are known as highly efficient motors and are slowly replacing induction motors in diverse industries. PMSM systems are nonlinear and consist of time-varying parameters with high-order complex dynamics.

On the accuracy of conservation of adiabatic invariants in slow-fast systems

open access: yes, 2011
Let the adiabatic invariant of action variable in slow-fast Hamiltonian system with two degrees of freedom have two limiting values along the trajectories as time tends to infinity. The difference of two limits is exponentially small in analytic systems.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

An efficient feedback method for MIMO systems with slowly time-varying channels [PDF]

open access: yes2004 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8733), 2004
The capacity of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel can be improved if the transmitter has a knowledge of the channel. In this paper, we propose an efficient and practical feedback method based on parameterization and quantization of channel parameters.

A Distributed Tracking Algorithm for Reconstruction of Graph Signals

open access: yes, 2015
The rapid development of signal processing on graphs provides a new perspective for processing large-scale data associated with irregular domains. In many practical applications, it is necessary to handle massive data sets through complex networks, in ...

Implications of single-neuron gain scaling for information transmission in networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Summary: Many neural systems are equipped with mechanisms to efficiently encode sensory information. To represent natural stimuli with time-varying statistical properties, neural systems should adjust their gain to the inputs' ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Gaussian solitary waves and compactons in Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattices with Hertzian potentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We consider a class of fully-nonlinear Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) lattices, consisting of a chain of particles coupled by fractional power nonlinearities of order $\alpha >1$.
