Consistency of the Least Squares Estimate of Textured Surface Parameters

open access: yesНаукові вісті Національного технічного університету України "Київський політехнічний інститут", 2017
Background. For sinusoidal observation model of textured surface, i.e. model where regression function is a two-parameter harmonic oscillation and noise is a homogeneous isotropic Gaussian random field on the plane with zero mean and covariance function ...

Background field quantization and non-commutative Maxwell theory

open access: yes, 2003
We quantize non-commutative Maxwell theory canonically in the background field gauge for weak and slowly varying background fields. We determine the complete basis for expansion under such an approximation.

Effective Lagrangian for self-interacting scalar field theories in curved spacetime [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We consider a self-interacting scalar field theory in a slowly varying gravitational background field. Using zeta-function regularization and heat-kernel techniques, we derive the one-loop effective Lagrangian up to second order in the variation of the ...

Slowly Varying Solutions of Functional Differential Equations with Retarded and Advanced Arguments [PDF]

open access: yesgmj, 2007
Abstract Regularity, in the sense of Karamata, (with nonoscillation as a consequence) and the precise asymptotic behaviour of solutions of two functional differential equations are studied.

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Convergence rates for pointwise curve estimation with a degenerate design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The nonparametric regression with a random design model is considered. We want to recover the regression function at a point x where the design density is vanishing or exploding. Depending on assumptions on the regression function local regularity and on

Supercurrent switching in Three- and Four- Terminal Josephson Junctions

open access: yes, 1998
Control of the Josephson current by varying a gate current has recently been demonstrated in both 4-terminal and 3-terminal junctions. We show that, when the the gates are weakly coupled to the Josephson junction, the Josephson current versus gate ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Suboptimal variable structure control of uncertain nonlinear slowly varying systems

open access: yesSystems Science & Control Engineering, 2018
In this paper, a new robust suboptimal controller is designed to stabilize a class of uncertain nonlinear time-varying systems with slowly varying parameters.

Continuous-time random walk theory of superslow diffusion

open access: yes, 2010
Superslow diffusion, i.e., the long-time diffusion of particles whose mean-square displacement (variance) grows slower than any power of time, is studied in the framework of the decoupled continuous-time random walk model.
