Pellioditis pelhamensis n. sp. (Nematoda: Rhabditidae) and Pellioditis pellio (Schneider, 1866), earthworm associates from different subclades within Pellioditis (syn. Phasmarhabditis Andrássy, 1976). [PDF]
Recently, much attention has been focused on a group of rhabditid nematodes called Phasmarhabditis, a junior synonym of Pellioditis, as a promising source of biocontrol agents for invasive slugs. Pellioditis pelhamensis n. sp.

Avoidance and attraction behaviour of slugs exposed to parasitic nematodes
Avoidance of pathogens and parasites is the first line of defense to survive. Several slug species avoid the parasitic nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita to reduce infection however, there is nothing known about whether slugs avoid other members of the Phasmarhabditis genus.

Semiochemical applications for managing the grey field slug (Deroceras reticulatum Müller), a major pest of arable crops. [PDF]
Trends in semiochemical research highlight promising attractants and repellents for ‘push–pull’ pest control strategies of the grey field slug. Extracts from plants, predators, entomopathogenic fungi, and essential oils demonstrate potential in modifying grey field slug behaviour, inducing avoidance, antifeeding responses, or mortality, offering ...

Feeding by slugs on maize imposes variable productivity costs but can induce compensatory growth under some conditions. [PDF]
Slugs can challenge crop plants grown in no‐till fields. Our results confirm that higher levels of slug feeding can be detrimental to maize plants, but low levels of herbivory by slugs can unexpectedly increase plant growth and occasionally yield. Abstract BACKGROUND In contrast to herbivorous insect pests, relatively little attention has been given to

Behavioural avoidance by slugs and snails of the parasitic nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita [PDF]
The rhabditid nematode, Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita is a lethal parasite of certain terrestrial gastropods and has been shown as a biocontrol agent under laboratory and field conditions. In Egypt, P. hermaphrodita was isolated for the first time from different species of terrestrial gastropods found associated with various crops at Aga and Mansoura ...

Spatiotemporal analysis of predation by carabid beetles (Carabidae) on nematode infected and uninfected slugs in the field. [PDF]
The dynamics of predation on parasites within prey has received relatively little attention despite the profound effects this is likely to have on both prey and parasite numbers and hence on biological control programmes where parasites are employed. The

Differentiated effects of parasitic nematodes Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita on slugs of the genus Deroceras and snails of the genus Arion [PDF]
This paper compares efficiency of preparations based on a parasitic nematode species Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita with a molluscocide containing methiocarb as an effective substance. Parasitic nematodes by the family Agriolimacidae showed a significantly better effect on mortality and reduction of the percentage of damaged plants than the methiocarb ...

Mortality of the invasive white garden snail Theba pisana exposed to three US isolates of Phasmarhabditis spp (P. hermaphrodita, P. californica, and P. papillosa). [PDF]
Theba pisana is a serious snail pest in many parts of the world and affects diverse crops including grain, vegetables, grapevines, and ornamental plants and shrubs.

A Novel Invertebrate Predator on an Oceanic Island: Impacts and Invasion Dynamics of Kontikia andersoni on Macquarie Island. [PDF]
This study examines the invasion dynamics of the predatory invertebrate flatworm Kontikia andersoni, and its impacts on the invertebrate communities of sub‐Antarctic Macquarie Island. Our findings indicate that at higher elevations where K. andersoni is present there are significant reductions in invertebrate richness.
