Magnetic properties of Sm2 Co17 and Sm2 CO17 Nx in the Rhombohedral phase

The nitrogenation of Sm2 Fe17 is required to raise the Curie temperature above the temperature range in which the magnets will be used. The raising of the Curie temperature is accompanied by beneficial increases in the other magnetic properties.

Luminescence of Sm2+ doped in BaFBr

The luminescence of Sm2+-doped BaFBr has been measured as a function of temperature and pressure. The 7FJ crystal field levels have been identified and the corresponding crystal field parameters evaluated. Temperature dependent lifetime measurements allow to locate the energy of the lowest 4f55d1 level.
