CoverView: a sequence quality evaluation tool for next generation sequencing data [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesWellcome Open Research, 2018
Quality assurance and quality control are essential for robust next generation sequencing (NGS). Here we present CoverView, a fast, flexible, user-friendly quality evaluation tool for NGS data.

Investigating the effect of e-cigarette use on quitting smoking in adults aged 25 years or more using the PATH study [version 3; peer review: 3 approved, 1 not approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2022
Background: The evidence on harms and benefits of e-cigarettes partly concerns whether their use encourages smokers to quit.  We addressed this using data from the nationally representative PATH study, with detailed accounting for potential confounding ...

Water, Alcohols, Amines, and Amides as Formal Hydrogen‐Atom‐Transfer Reagents Through Activation With Redox‐Active Lewis Acids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Protic molecules containing strong O─H or N─H bonds typically resist hydrogen‐atom abstraction because of the high reactivity of the resulting heteroatom‐centered radicals. However, association of the protic molecules with redox‐active Lewis acids can provide powerful hydrogen‐atom donors or proton‐coupled‐electron‐transfer reagents.

Rapid Quantitation of Doxycycline Hydrochloride, Metronidazole and Sulfadimidine in Pork and Milk Using PCN-225 Fluorescence Assay [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
To explore a simple, rapid and sensitive method for the detection of doxycycline hydrochloride (DOX), metronidazole (MTZ) and sulfadimidine (SM2) in pork and milk, a porphyrinic zirconium metal-organic framework (MOF) material, PCN-225, was synthesized ...

Numerical and Experimental Evaluation of a Simplified Lateral Spring Formulation for Rocking Structures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rocking podium isolation systems have gained significant research interest as a method of limiting seismic demands on superstructures and eliminating residual post‐earthquake drifts through self‐centring behaviour. However, while numerous models of varying complexity, including analytical, phenomenological, and physical formulations, have been

Mucosal vaccination with recombinant Lactobacillus casei-displayed CTA1-conjugated consensus matrix protein-2 (sM2) induces broad protection against divergent influenza subtypes in BALB/c mice.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
To develop a safe and effective mucosal vaccine against pathogenic influenza viruses, we constructed recombinant Lactobacillus casei strains that express conserved matrix protein 2 with (pgsA-CTA1-sM2/L. casei) or without (pgsA-sM2/L.

Healthcare Costs Following Medical Gender‐Affirmation: Evidence From Whole‐of‐Population Australian Administrative Data

open access: yesHealth Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gender incongruence in trans and nonbinary (“trans”) populations is often associated with psychological distress and increased demand for mental healthcare. Gender‐affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) is a key component of care for many trans people, yet long‐term evidence around its cost implications remains limited despite increasing uptake and ...

Design and implementation of proxy-protected proxy signature based on SM2

open access: yes网络与信息安全学报, 2017
Based on the SM2 digital signature standard,a proxy-protected proxy signature scheme was designed.Through the design of the agent authorization mechanism, the protection of the proxy signer was realized. The proxy signature was realized by the proxy signer

SM2-based Digital Signature Scheme Supporting Threshold Modification [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng
Existing digital signature schemes are widely used in e-commerce, financial transactions, and medical systems. However, they cannot modify the content of signed messages while keeping the signature unchanged.

Rewarded to Reject? Exploring Motivational Roots of Idea Rejection in Teams

open access: yesJournal of Organizational Behavior, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Teams hold the potential for creative performance, yet diverse perspectives may also lead to the premature rejection of unconventional ideas. Because such rejection can prevent teams from realizing their creative potential, understanding what motivational processes drive idea rejection during brainstorming is critical. Drawing on the Motivated
