Small angle scattering of fast neutrons

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1971
Abstract The reasons for interest in small angle scattering of fast neutrons are outlined. Apparatus developed for investigating small angle scattering of 3.5 MeV neutrons emitted in the 2H(d,n)3He reaction using a 1 MeV accelerator is described and its performance assessed.

Small Angle Neutron Scattering on Polymers

Journal of Neutron Research, 1999
Many polymer molecules can be isotopically labelled by substituting deuterium for hydrogen on the polymer chain. The labelling method minimally perturbs the thermodynamics of polymeric systems while providing superb contrast for neutron experiments. In this article, some of the uses of small angle neutron scattering and neutron reflectivity for the ...

Small-angle scattering of polarized neutrons in HTSC ceramics

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1997
The results of the first observation of the small-angle polarized neutron scattering (SAPNS) from magnetic flux inhomogeneities in high-$T_c$ Y-Ba-Cu-O and La-Sr-Cu-O ceramics are reported. The difference between the scattering cross sections for neutrons initially polarized along or opposite to the applied field was found at ...

Small-angle neutron scattering and neutron reflectometry

1993
Diffraction methods, interpreted loosely, could be applied to the techniques of wide-angle X-ray scattering, small-angle X-ray scattering, electron diffraction, small-angle neutron scattering, small-angle light scattering and reflectometry. Each of the above techniques is defined by the size range explored and the property that causes the scattering ...

Phase-sensitive small-angle neutron scattering

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 2014
A method is described for determining the neutron scattering length density distribution of a molecular-scale object directly from phase-sensitive small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The structure factor amplitude is obtained through the use of a reference structure for a collection of randomly oriented, identical objects in the dilute solution ...

Small Angle Neutron Scattering Complementing Neutron Radiography

1983
In neutron radiography inhomogeneities of sizes down to a few micrometers are detectable by an imaging technique. In small angle neutron scattering (SANS) experiments inhomogeneities in the A range up to 1000 A diameter are observed by neutron scattering.
