Evaluation of thermal neutron scattering law of nuclear-grade isotropic graphite [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
Graphite is a candidate of moderator in innovative nuclear reactors such as high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and molten salt reactors. Scattering of thermal neutrons by a moderator material has a significant impact on the reactor core design.

Origin of Electric Field Induced Magnetization in Multiferroic HoMnO3

open access: yes, 2010
We have performed polarized and unpolarized small angle neutron scattering experiments on single crystals of HoMnO3 and have found that an increase in magnetic scattering at low momentum transfers begins upon cooling through temperatures close to the ...

Stiffening Liquid Crystal Elastomers with Liquid Crystal Inclusions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Incorporation of low molecular weight liquid crystals (LC) into liquid crystal elastomers (LCE) leads to a significant increase in their stiffness and output work density. Such remarkable stiffening is attributed to nanoscale phase‐separation and the formation of induced‐smectic domains in polydomain and monodomain LC‐LCEs, respectively.

Quasi-specular albedo of cold neutrons from powder of nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2009
We predicted and observed for the first time the quasi-specular albedo of cold neutrons at small incidence angles from a powder of nanoparticles. This albedo (reflection) is due to multiple neutron small-angle scattering.

Ordered arrays of magnetic nanowires investigated by polarized small-angle neutron scattering

open access: yes, 2014
Polarized small-angle neutron scattering (PSANS) experimental results obtained on arrays of ferromagnetic Co nanowires ($\phi\approx13$ nm) embedded in self-organized alumina (Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$) porous matrices are reported. The triangular array of aligned

Accompanying Structural Transformations in Polarity Switching of Heavily Doped Conjugated Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The polarity switching of heavily doped p‐type conjugated polymers (CPs) toward environmentally stable electron‐rich thin films is demonstrated. Multiscale analyses, incorporating spectroscopic, electrochemical, and scattering techniques, reveal structural and chemical transformations induced by excessive doping with AuCl3.

Small-angle scattering interferometry with neutron orbital angular momentum states

open access: yesNature Communications
Methods to prepare and characterize neutron helical waves carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) were recently demonstrated at small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) facilities.

Activation and Stabilization Strategies of Aluminum Metal Anode Toward High Performance Aqueous Al Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review spotlights the critical challenges faced by aluminum metal anodes and aqueous electrolytes. Recent progress on activating and stabilizing Al metal anode is summarized and discussed in terms of two aspects, including anode engineering and electrolyte optimization. Finally, some revelatory insights and possible strategies are provided for the

Primary Data Treatment Software for Position-Sensitive Detector of Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Spectrometer in the Isotropic Pattern Scattering Case

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
A new data converter has been created for the new position-sensitive detector (PSD) of small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) spectrometer YuMO. In the isotropic pattern scattering case, it provides the possibility for processing PSD data with the SAS ...
