Polyelectrolytes and small angle scattering

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
We present an introduction to the application of small angle Xray and neutron scattering to the study of polyelectrolyte solutions. We aim to give a simple overview of the structural information that can be gained with these techniques. In particular, we

Characterisation of porous solids using small-angle scattering and NMR cryoporometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The characteristics of several porous systems have been studied by the use of small-angle neutron scattering [SANS] and nuclear magnetic resonance [NMR] techniques. The measurements reveal different characteristics for sol-gel silicas, activated carbons

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Long-range crystalline nature of the skyrmion lattice in MnSi

open access: yes, 2011
We report small angle neutron scattering of the skyrmion lattice in MnSi using an experimental set-up that minimizes the effects of demagnetizing fields and double scattering.

Magnetic Small-Angle Neutron Scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
AbstractThis book provides the first extensive treatment of magnetic small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The theoretical background required to compute magnetic SANS cross sections and correlation functions related to long-wavelength magnetization structures is laid out; and these concepts are scrutinized based on the discussion of experimental ...

Quantifying Spin Defect Density in hBN via Raman and Photoluminescence Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐optical method is presented for quantifying the density of boron vacancy spin defects in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). By correlating Raman and photoluminescence signals with irradiation fluence, defect‐induced Raman modes are identified and established an relationship linking optical signatures to absolute defect densities. This enables direct

Origin of Electric Field Induced Magnetization in Multiferroic HoMnO3

open access: yes, 2010
We have performed polarized and unpolarized small angle neutron scattering experiments on single crystals of HoMnO3 and have found that an increase in magnetic scattering at low momentum transfers begins upon cooling through temperatures close to the ...

Structure of interacting aggregates of silica nanoparticles in a polymer matrix: Small-angle scattering and Reverse Monte-Carlo simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Reinforcement of elastomers by colloidal nanoparticles is an important application where microstructure needs to be understood - and if possible controlled - if one wishes to tune macroscopic mechanical properties. Here the three-dimensional structure of

Phase-sensitive small-angle neutron scattering experiment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications, 2018
In the work reported herein, we investigate the practicality of a recently introduced variant of a general phase-sensitive method in small-angle neutron scattering that attempts to address the loss of phase-information as well as the orientational averaging simultaneously-through the use of reference structures in conjunction with finite element ...
