Inferences on Small Area Proportions.
Journal of the Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics. Indian Society of Agricultural Statistics, 2012Design-based methods are generally inefficient for making inferences about small area proportions for rare events. In this paper, we discuss an alternative hierarchical model and the associated hierarchical Bayes methodology. Sufficient conditions for propriety of the posterior distributions of relevant parameters are presented.

This paper considers Riemannian metrics on two dimensional disks where all geodesics are minimizing. A sharp reverse isoperimetric inequality is proven. This in turn yields near optimal bounds for the area of disks as well as near optimal upper bounds on the first nonzero Neumann eigenvalue of the Laplacian in terms only of the radius.
