Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Expediency of using “corrected” variances when evaluating measurement result uncertainty
Background. When estimating the uncertainty of the measurement result, “corrected” variances are used. This leads to a violation of the rule for adding dispersions, which is of great practical importance in metrological calculations. The purpose of the

Hyers-Ulam (HU) Stability and Mittag-Leffler-HU Stability of Additive Brownian Motion (Louis Bachelier's Model) [PDF]
The concept of Hyers-Ulam stability provides a powerful framework for analysing the robustness of functional and differential equations (DE’s) under small perturbations. In this study, we investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability and Mittag-Leffler-Hyers-Ulam

Large and Small Deviations for Statistical Sequence Matching
We revisit the problem of statistical sequence matching between two databases of sequences initiated by Unnikrishnan (TIT 2015) and derive theoretical performance guarantees for the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT). We first consider the case where the number of matched pairs of sequences between the databases is known.

On small deviations of Gaussian processes using majorizing measures [PDF]
We give two examples of periodic Gaussian processes, having entropy numbers of exactly same order but radically different small deviations. Our construction is based on classical Knopp's result yielding of existence of continuous nowhere differentiable functions, and more precisely on Loud's functions.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Bounded Rationality and Strategic Complementarity in a Macroeconomic Model: Policy Effects, Persistence and Multipliers [PDF]
Motivated by recent developments in the bounded rationality and strategic complementarity literatures, we examine an intentionally simple and stylized aggregative economic model, when the assumptions of fully rational expectations and no strategic ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
