Linking species distribution models with population abundance to support adaptive fisheries management

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Understanding how environmental variability structures essential fish habitat (EFH) is central to managing keystone populations in dynamic marine ecosystems. Using nearly three decades of standardized survey data (1994–2021) from the Adriatic Sea, we present the first basin‐scale, process‐based framework linking estimated habitat suitability and ...

Anion Concentration–Regulated Interface Stabilization Enabling High‐Performance Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A higher anion concentration promotes the formation of a LiF‐rich SEI on the Li surface, thereby stabilizing the interface and modifying Li deposition behavior and dendrite morphology, which ultimately determines the cycling performance of Li metal batteries.

Harvesting technology and catch-to-biomass dependence: The case of small pelagic fish [PDF]

open access: yes
This note deals with a harvesting model for a single stock fishery. In the case of small pelagic fish it seems reasonable to consider harvest functions depending nonlinearly on fishing effort and on fish stock. Empirical evidence about these fish species

Synergistic Photo‐Electro‐Fenton Oxidation of Antibiotics Using a Ferrocene‐Functionalized MXene (Ti3C2Tx) Electrode

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
2D MXene (Ti3C2Tx)‐based electrode setup for hybrid photo‐electro‐Fenton degradation of antibiotic (tetracycline). The persistence of antibiotics such as tetracycline in aquatic systems poses severe environmental and health risks by potential antimicrobial resistance.

Sustainable exploitation of small pelagic fish stocks challenged by environmental and ecosystem changes : a review

open access: yes, 2005
Small pelagic fish contribute up to 50% of the total landing of marine species. They are most abundant in upwelling areas and contribute to food security.

Comparative Nutritional Analysis of Six Selective Small Pelagic Fish Species in Sri Lanka

open access: yes
Fish constitutes a crucial dietary staple in Sri Lanka, largely due to the economic significance of fishing in local communities. However, a disparity exists between the recognition of small pelagic fish and larger common pelagic species.

Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

Sprayable Polyolefin Sorbents Enabled by Bio‐Solvents for Large‐Scale Oil and Chemical Spill Recovery

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sprayable POE‐based sorbent formulated with a green solvent blend of α‐pinene, D‐limonene, and p‐cymene enables rapid in situ film formation via solvent evaporation, allowing efficient pollutant capture. The system exhibits high oil uptake (37.3 g g−1) and effectively removes up to 60 mL of VLSFO under simulated marine spill conditions.
