Workshop “Modelling of Small Reactor Cores”
1985There was general agreement that the modelling was satisfactory in the core away from large disturbances such as control absorbers, or experimental assemblies. However close to such assemblies, or in the reflector the situation was far from satisfactory.

On the safety goal for small reactors
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1988A discussion of some features of present KWU reactors in the standard range of 900 MW to 1300 MW give clear hints, that better safety can't yet be the goal of building small reactors. But if smaller reactors have the potential to reach safety with more simple design features this should be used to reach economical advantages.

Advanced Reactor Design and Small Modular Reactors
2017The main class of commercial reactors built from the 1960s to the 1980s is today generally called second-generation reactors. These have been succeeded by a range of third-generation reactor designs, a few of which have been built or are under construction.

Small Modular Nuclear Reactors
2018There is growing UK and international interest in using 'small modular nuclear reactors' (SMRs) to generate electricity, and the UK Government announced a number of measures to support SMR development in the 2018 Nuclear Sector Deal. Stakeholders suggest that, compared with conventional nuclear reactors, SMRs could offer cost savings to operators and ...

Licensing small modular reactors
Energy, 2013Abstract Small modular reactor designs with power levels of less than 300 MWe are being developed in several countries. While there are several potential advantages with these reactors, they are also confronted with multiple challenges. Important among these challenges is to have these new reactor designs licensed by national regulatory bodies ...

Small reactors, big reactions: Understanding attitudes towards small modular reactors in the UK
Public acceptance of emerging energy technologies is vital for their successful deployment, yet little is currently known about attitudes toward Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the UK. The current study examined public opinion toward SMR deployment both in principle and at a local level using a cross-sectional online survey (N=1,006).Christopher R. Jones +2 more

Small Scale Laboratory Reactors
1987In the modern industrial economy, catalysis forms the cornerstone of the chemical and petroleum industries. Process throughputs are large, and therefore even minor improvements in catalyst performance can have a substantial economic return, while the discovery of a new catalyst may render existing processes uncompetitive almost overnight.
