Stereotactic core ablative radiation therapy for small hypoxic tumors: impact of dosimetric approaches and consequent optimization strategy in the context of spatially fractionated radiation therapy

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
PurposeStereotactic core ablative radiation therapy (SCART) delivers a single ablative dose core to the central hypoxic part while keeping low doses to the periphery of the tumor.

Progress in AMS target production in sub-milligram samples at the NERC Radiocarbon Laboratory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
. Recent progress in graphite target production for sub-milligram environmental samples in our facility is presented. We describe an optimized hydrolysis procedure now routinely used for the preparation of CO2 from inorganic samples, a new high-vacuum ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

CCG-YOLOv7: A Wood Defect Detection Model for Small Targets Using Improved YOLOv7

open access: yesIEEE Access
The Chinese furniture market has a high demand for wood floors. Manual defect detection in wood floors is inefficient and lacks stability in accuracy. It is necessary to conduct research on automatic defect detection in wood floors.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Research on Rapid Recognition of Moving Small Targets by Robotic Arms Based on Attention Mechanisms

open access: yesApplied Sciences
For small target objects on fast-moving conveyor belts, traditional vision detection algorithms equipped with conventional robotic arms struggle to capture the long and short-range pixel dependencies crucial for accurate detection.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sticky Trap-Embedded Machine Vision for Tea Pest Monitoring: A Cross-Domain Transfer Learning Framework Addressing Few-Shot Small Target Detection

open access: yesAgronomy
Pest infestations have always been a major factor affecting tea production. Real-time detection of tea pests using machine vision is a mainstream method in modern agricultural pest control.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
