Geochemistry‐Driven Recovery of Li and Fe From Spent LiFePO4 Cathodes via Stabilized Phosphorus Mineralization

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A geochemistry‐guided, acid‐free recycling paradigm for spent LFP batteries. ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries presents a critical challenge for sustainable end‐of‐life management, where conventional recycling methods heavily depend on intensive acid/oxidant use and overlook persistent phosphorus pollution.

A Study on the Stability Fields of Arc Plasma in the HPSR Process

open access: yesMetals, 2020
One of the major challenges for Europe’s future steel production will be minimizing the inherent process emissions in the production of crude steel based on iron ores. In this case, mainly the reduction of CO2 emissions is a focus.

Semi-Smelting Reduction and Magnetic Separation for the Recovery of Iron and Alumina Slag from Iron Rich Bauxite

open access: yesMinerals, 2019
This work presents a semi-smelting reduction and magnetic separation process for the recovery of iron and alumina slag from iron rich bauxite ore. The effect of the process parameters on the recovery rate of iron, maximum particle size of the iron nugget,

Efficient Recycling of Spent LiCoO2 Cathodes Via Confined Pore‐Assisted Simplified Direct Carbothermic Reduction Without External Reducing Agents

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A simplified direct carbothermic reduction (SDCR) process is developed for efficient recycling of spent LiCoO2 cathodes. The SDCR method employs carbon conductive agents and organic binders embedded in the electrode as internal reducing agents, while the confined pores of calendered electrodes promote the retention of in situ generated reduction gases.

Conditions for Minimizing Direct Reduction in Smelting Reduction Iron Making

open access: yesISIJ International, 2018
In a 2 stage-smelting reduction process, it is favorable to lower the reduction degree of iron ore in a pre-reducing unit by lowering its temperature to avoid any troubles due to stickiness of high reduced iron ore. However, less pre-reduced iron ore can induce direct reduction in a melter-gasifier, which can increase coal ratio.
