Properties of SMM Flares

1993
It is known that X-ray observations of the solar corona contain information on the flare energy release. In this paper we shall describe the use of density-temperature and emission measure-temperature diagrams for the analysis of the flare heating function.

The SMM Rootkit Revisited: Fun with USB

2014 Ninth International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security, 2014
System Management Mode (SMM) in x86 has enabled a new class of malware with incredible power to control physical hardware that is virtually impossible to detect by the host operating system. Previous SMM root kits have only scratched the surface by modifying kernel data structures and trapping on I/O registers to implement PS/2 key loggers.

Comparison of background in OSO-7 and SMM spectrometers and short-term activation in SMM

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1989
The backgrounds in the OSO-7 Gamma-Ray Monitor and the Solar Maximum Mission Gamma-Ray Spectrometer are compared. After scaling to the same volume, the background spectra agree to within 30 percent. This shows that analyses which successfully describe the background in one detector can be applied to similar detectors of different sizes and on different

SMM-Based Hypervisor Integrity Measurement

2015 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Cyber Security and Cloud Computing, 2015
Hypervisors play an important role in the virtualised environment and consequently are a prime target for attacks. Different kinds of attacks have been reported and a great deal of research has been done to address vulnerabilities in hypervisors. Recently, after successful defeat of integrity measurement tools, a new class of measurement tools have ...

SMM actuator for nanoscale positioning

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
This paper presents a new design of a Shear Motion Mode (SMM) actuator for ultra-high precision positioning in nanotechnological applications. In the SMM Actuator, a V-shape stage is driven by four parallel polarized piezoelectric plates with shear displacement. Based on its simple mechanism, the SMM actuator can be built very compactly.

An improved SMM algorithm

Journal of Electronics (China), 1999
A new fast algorithm to compute modular exponentiation for very large integers is proposed in this paper, which is an improvement of the fast RSA algorithm based on Symmetry of Modular Multiplication(SMM). The SMM algorithm obtains the speed improvement by conditional substitution on every basic operation to decrease the absolute value of product and ...

Differentiating between MM like Smoldering Myeloma (SMM) and Non-Progressor SMM

Blood
Identifying patients with SMM who are genomically similar to MM and progress quickly, and those who are likely not to progress to MM for a longer period, is crucial for intervention and treatment decisions, as well as defining potential clinical trials.

Progression risk for MGUS and SMM

Blood, 2007
Patients with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) are at continuous risk of progression. Each year, 1% progress, usually to active multiple myeloma (MM).1 Such patients must be monitored for life. Asymptomatic smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) has an even greater risk of progression to MM.
