Dissociation between perception and smooth pursuit eye movements in speed judgments of moving Gabor targets. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The relationship between eye movements and subjective perception is still relatively poorly understood. In this study, participants tracked the movement of a Gabor patch and made perceptual judgments of its speed using a two-interval forced choice task ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Comparing fMRI activation during smooth pursuit eye movements among contact sport athletes, non-contact sport athletes, and non-athletes

open access: yesNeuroImage: Clinical, 2018
Objectives: Though sub-concussive impacts are common during contact sports, there is little consensus whether repeat blows affect brain function. Using a “lifetime exposure” rather than acute exposure approach, we examined oculomotor performance and ...

Effects of State of Eye Movements before Saccade on Efficiency of Response to Stimulus - Comparison of Search Efficiency between Fixation and Smooth Pursuit Situations - [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this study, how the state of eye movement before saccade affected the response to a stimulus was explored. The state of eye movement before saccade was either smooth pursuit or fixation.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Examination of the relationship between the Groffman Visual Tracing test and Smooth Pursuit test: a cross-sectional analysis

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology
Purpose Smooth Pursuit and Groffman Visual Tracing (GVT) tests are tracking tests used to evaluate oculomotor processes. This study aims to investigate the relationship between GVT and the Smooth Pursuit test, which assesses various aspects of oculomotor

Calibration-free gaze interfaces based on linear smooth pursuit

open access: yesJournal of Eye Movement Research, 2020
Since smooth pursuit eye movements can be used without calibration in spontaneous gaze interaction, the intuitiveness of the gaze interface design has been a topic of great interest in the human-computer interaction field.

Anticipatory smooth eye movements in autism spectrum disorder. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Smooth pursuit eye movements are important for vision because they maintain the line of sight on targets that move smoothly within the visual field. Smooth pursuit is driven by neural representations of motion, including a surprisingly strong influence ...

Random Filters for Compressive Sampling and Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We propose and study a new technique for efficiently acquiring and reconstructing signals based on convolution with a fixed FIR filter having random taps.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
