Simple way to apply nonlocal van der Waals functionals within all-electron methods

open access: yes, 2017
The method based on fast Fourier transforms proposed by G. Rom\'an-P\'erez and J. M. Soler [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 096102 (2009)], which allows for a computationally fast implementation of the nonlocal van der Waals (vdW) functionals, has significantly ...

Determination of Optimal Smoothing Constants for Exponential Smoothing Method & Holt’s Method

open access: yesDhaka University Journal of Science, 2017
This paper concentrates on choosing the appropriate smoothing constants for Exponential Smoothing method and Holt’s method. These two methods are very important quantitative techniques in forecasting. The accuracy of forecasting of these techniques depends on Exponential smoothing constants.

Hybrid Auxetic Architectures: Integrating Curvature‐Driven Design for Enhanced Mechanical Tunability and Structural Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Evaluation of the Performance of Smoothing Functions in Generalized Additive Models for Spatial Variation in Disease

open access: yesCancer Informatics, 2015
Generalized additive models (GAMs) with bivariate smoothing functions have been applied to estimate spatial variation in risk for many types of cancers. Only a handful of studies have evaluated the performance of smoothing functions applied in GAMs with ...

Smoothing properties for the higher order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation with constant coefficients

open access: yes, 2007
We study local and global existence and smoothing properties for the initial value problem associated to a higher order nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with constant coefficients which appears as a model for propagation of pulse in optical ...

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Batch Nonlinear Continuous-Time Trajectory Estimation as Exactly Sparse Gaussian Process Regression

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, we revisit batch state estimation through the lens of Gaussian process (GP) regression. We consider continuous-discrete estimation problems wherein a trajectory is viewed as a one-dimensional GP, with time as the independent variable.
