Holocene vegetation change and fire–plant diversity shifts in Mediterranean France
ABSTRACT Changes in fire activity are recognized as a major threat to biodiversity and vegetation communities across the Mediterranean Basin. However, long‐term fire–vegetation interactions remain poorly investigated. Here, we combine a high‐resolution charcoal record with pollen data from the “Étang des Aulnes” lake (southern France) to reconstruct ...

Seabird population responses after the removal of an introduced predator
We studied the response of a breeding population of seabirds (pigeon guillemots) to the removal of an introduced population of predators (American mink) from an archipelago that was formerly the largest aggregation of nesting guillemots in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

When compared to resident lizards of the corresponding age class, juvenile headstarted Texas horned lizards soft‐released into an urban population exhibited more favorable responses to short‐term translocation objectives (i.e., daily movement rates, home range sizes, and survival rates) than did conspecifics headstarted to the adult age class ...

ABSTRACT This study explored the association between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) progression in an older population. Using data from NHANES 2001–2020, we analyzed 4974 adults aged ≥ 60 years with CKM syndrome. The CDAI was calculated from the intake of six dietary antioxidants.

Abstract Purpose Dynamic tibiofemoral movements following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with quadriceps tendon (QT) autografts have not yet been compared to other autografts. We aimed to compare dynamic anterior tibial translation (ATTd) and internal tibial rotation (ITRd) during jump‐landing and walking among patients with QT, bone ...

ABSTRACT Soil organic carbon (SOC), as a key indicator of global carbon cycling and climate change response, plays a critical role in regional ecological security and agricultural sustainability. This study employs three machine learning models including the LightGBM, XGBoost, and random forest to simulate the spatial distribution of topsoil SOC stocks

ABSTRACT Rapid urbanization and agricultural expansion are reshaping human–environment relationships in arid regions; however, the spatially heterogeneous and nonlinear relationships between human activities and ecosystem services remain insufficiently understood.

Diffraction‐Free Natural Optical Skyrmions and Their Subwavelength Confinement Around Vortices
ABSTRACT Diffraction causes waves to spread out as they propagate freely. The tighter the lateral confinement, the faster the spreading. Past research on how to suppress diffraction has been based on wave engineering and has led so far to idealized waves that, in real settings, eventually diffract.
