Facial Skin Smoothness as an Indicator of Perceived Trustworthiness and Related Traits
Perception, 2015Facial texture has typically been studied as an umbrella phenomenon comprising several properties, such as skin tone and smoothness. Furthermore, texture has normally been addressed within complex models including also structural and dynamic properties and focusing on the extraction of perceptual dimensions from large numbers of physical and ...

Indications for P2-purinoceptor subtypes in guinea pig smooth muscle
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1988The effects of ADP, ATP, 2-methylthio ATP, alpha,beta-methylene ADP (alpha, beta meADP) and alpha, beta meATP on smooth muscle tone and the responses to transmural nerve stimulation were studied in isolated longitudinal ileum muscle, in vas deferens and in taenia coli of the guinea pig.

NUMERICAL ENTROPY PRODUCTION AS SMOOTHNESS INDICATOR FOR SHALLOW WATER EQUATIONS
The ANZIAM Journal, 2019The numerical entropy production (NEP) for shallow water equations (SWE) is discussed and implemented as a smoothness indicator. We consider SWE in three different dimensions, namely, one-dimensional, one-and-a-half-dimensional, and two-dimensional SWE. An existing numerical entropy scheme is reviewed and an alternative scheme is provided. We prove the

Recursive filtering and smoothing for Gaussian reciprocal processes with continuous indices
2009 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2009In this paper, we study continuous index Gaussian reciprocal processes (Grp's) (or two-point boundary valued processes) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our main contributions are 1) deriving first order white noise driven representations from the second order correlated noise driven representations of Grp's given by Krener, Frezza, and Levy [1]; 2)

Smooth Pursuit and Saccadic Eye Movements as Possible Indicators of Nighttime Sleepiness
Physiology & Behavior, 1998Sleepiness is associated with specific variations of spontaneous oculomotor activity. During nocturnal sleep onset periods and also during the Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) a reduction of both rapid eye movements and blinks are recorded. In many operational contexts it might be even more relevant to assess whether and to what extent voluntary ...

Building Smooth Indicators Nearly Free of End-of-Sample Revisions [PDF]
Aim of this paper is the construction of smooth indicator of the Italian industrial production index providing reliable end-of-sample information. Traditional smooth indicators are obtained using univariate filtering procedures based on symmetric or asymmetric filters inducing serious revisions.
