Is stroke smoothness a reliable indicator of fatigue in ergometer rowing?

Sports Engineering, 2009
A measure of stroke smoothness (SS) has been presented previously to indicate the degree to which rowers produce an “ideal” handle force profile that of the positive half of a sine wave [2]. This study aimed to determine the influence of fatigue on SS. Ten male rowers completed a maximal intensity trial.

A multi-resolution weighted compact nonlinear scheme with unconditionally optimal high order

The Physics of Fluids
In a recent work [J. Comput. Phys. 477 (2023) 111877], an efficient multi-resolution weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS) is proposed for solving compressible flows. This paper mainly focuses on improving the nonlinear interpolation scheme therein in

GEL methods for non-smooth moment indicators

2008
This paper considers the first order large sample properties of the GEL class of estimators for models specified by non-smooth indicators. The GEL class includes a number of estimators recently introduced as alternatives to the efficient GMM estimator which may suffer from substantial biases in finite samples. These include EL, ET and the CUE.

On the Approximation of Indicator Functions by Smooth Functions in Banach Spaces

1981
In this note a problem of the approximation of indicator functions of some sets in Banach spaces by smooth functions is considered. The problem had arisen in limit theorems of probability theory in Banach spaces. One method of constructing such an approximation in Banach spaces with sufficiently smooth norm and sets with smooth boundary are given; some
