Turning Smo On

Science's STKE, 2007
Morphogens of the Hedgehog (Hh) family bind to the receptor Patched, and this alleviates inhibition of the signal-transducing membrane protein Smoothened. This activation of Smoothened involves increased cell surface abundance and phosphorylation of the cytoplasmic tail of Smoothened by protein kinase A and casein kinase I.

Mi smo slični - mi smo različiti

2005

Preliminary System Studies on a High-Resolution SMOS Follow-On: SMOS-HR

IGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019
The Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite has provided, for the very first time, systematic passive L-band (1420−1427 MHz) measurements from space with a spatial resolution of ~50 Km. This contribution presents preliminary results of studies conducted for a High Resolution (HR) follow-on mission.

The Multiple Pairs SMO: A modified SMO algorithm for the acceleration of the SVM training

2009 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2009
The Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) algorithm is known to be one of the most efficient solutions for the Support Vector Machine training phase. It solves a quadratic programming (QP) problem by optimizing a set of coefficients whose size is the number of training examples.

Conjugate descent for the SMO algorithm

2016 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2016
We propose a conjugate descent procedure for the second order SMO algorithm that leads to a substantial decrease in the number of iterations required for SMO to converge to a given precision with a modest increase in the iteration cost.

The Smo/Smo Model: Hedgehog-Induced Medulloblastoma with 90% Incidence and Leptomeningeal Spread

Cancer Research, 2008
Abstract Toward the goal of generating a mouse medulloblastoma model with increased tumor incidence, we developed a homozygous version of our ND2:SmoA1 model. Medulloblastomas form in 94% of homozygous Smo/Smo mice by 2 months of age.

SMOS in Antarctica for the Snowmelt Monitoring

IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018
In Antarctica, the coastal and ice-shelves areas are affected by snowmelt during the austral summer. The length and extend of this melting period are key parameters in the study of climate and its interannual variations in these regions. Melting events have a significant impact on the microwave emissivity of the surface.

Understanding SMOS data in Antarctica

2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014
Since the SMOS satellite launch in 2009, its L-band radiometer data have been analyzed in depth by scientists worldwide and have resulted in significant steps forward in different disciplines. As primary objectives of the mission, the main research focus has been related to soil moisture and ocean salinity.

SMOS and hydrology

2016
SMOS, a L Band radiometer using aperture synthesis to achieve a good spatial resolution, was successfully launched on November 2, 2009. It was developed and made under the leadership of the European Space Agency (ESA) as an Earth Explorer Opportunity mission.

Freeform and SMO

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
The effect of the source pixel intensity and polarization on imaging is analyzed. The pixilated source is an artifact of the discrete overlapping diffraction orders from the pupil stop of the illumination and from the pupil stop of the projection lens.
