Elementary Steps of Energy Conversion in Strongly Correlated Systems: Beyond Single Quasiparticles and Rigid Bands

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This article reviews the fundamental consequences of strong correlations on excitations and elementary steps of energy conversion leading to new opportunities to control energy conversion. Examples include friction at surfaces, thermal transport, and photovoltaic energy conversion.

Spatiotemporal Dynamics of NDVI, Soil Moisture and ENSO in Tropical South America

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
We evaluated the coupled dynamics of vegetation dynamics (NDVI) and soil moisture (SMOS) at monthly resolution over different regions of tropical South America and the effects of the Eastern Pacific (EP) and the Central Pacific (CP) El Niño–Southern ...

open access: yes, 2020
Simply put, the modern Slovenian nation began as a cultural project in the age of Enlightenment. Its basic axis has been Standard Slovenian as one of Slavic languages. The book describes from where the speakers of the initial common Slavic language arrived at our place, as well as where and when Slavs came into being.

Advances in GPCRs Associated With Wnt Signaling Within the Auditory System

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) that interact with the Wnt signaling pathway are pivotal for auditory system homeostasis, as they orchestrate inner ear development, hair cell (HC) regeneration, and hearing preservation. Frizzled (FZD) receptors, the core Wnt‐related GPCRs, bind Wnt ligands and co‐receptors (e.g., LRP5/6) to activate both ...

Engaging the public in plant science: Communication facilitators and barriers of scaling up a citizen science campaign

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Volunteers have been involved in nature observations for decades through citizen science initiatives, providing large data sets as well as problem identification that allow a more complete understanding of many natural phenomena. Although communication is a core component in citizen science, the key factors that determine its effectiveness in ...

Impact of data assimilation on Arctic sea‐ice thickness variability and its coupling with atmospheric forcing

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We document for the first time how the assimilation of CS2SMOS observations improves the model representation of Arctic sea‐ice thickness (SIT) and its variability: biases are reduced (top row), while excessive variability in the Beaufort Sea and lack of variability in the ice pack are both corrected (bottom row).

SMOS-derived sea ice thickness in the Antarctic from 2010 to 2020

open access: yes, 2021
The SMOS Level 3 Sea Ice Thickness product, in NetCDf format, provides daily estimations of SMOS-retrieved sea ice thickness (and its uncertainty) around the Antarctic continent during the austral winter (from 15. April to 15. October), from year 2010 to
