A rare case of osteoarticular tuberculosis and tuberculous osteomyelitis of the left foot without pulmonary involvement

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Tuberculosis (TB) of the musculoskeletal system is an uncommon manifestation, accounting for only 1-3% of all TB cases and typically affects the spine and large joints. Isolated TB of the foot is even rarer, comprising less than 10% of osteoarticular TB.

Interacting Brownian motions in infinite dimensions with logarithmic interaction potentials

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the construction of diffusions consisting of infinitely numerous Brownian particles moving in $\mathbb{R}^d$ and interacting via logarithmic functions (two-dimensional Coulomb potentials).

The myth of the metabolic baseline: sleep–wake cycles undermine a foundational assumption in organismal biology

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Basal and standard metabolic rate (BMR and SMR) are cornerstones of physiological ecology and are assumed to be relatively fixed intrinsic properties of organisms that represent the minimum energy required to sustain life. However, this assumption is conceptually flawed. Many core maintenance processes underlying SMR are temporally partitioned

Strategies to Improve the Cost Effectiveness of Broiler Production

open access: yesTropical Agricultural Research, 2012
This study was done using 2550 day-old, sex separated chicks (1275 males & 1275 females) to determine the most profitable grow-out period for broilers using different cost related performance indices and to ascertain the cost-effectiveness of sex ...

Innovating for Net‐Zero: Collaborative and Digital Decarbonisation Strategies in Sunset Industries' Global Value Chains

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global net‐zero ambitions require transformative strategies to decarbonise carbon‐intensive global value chains (GVCs). This study examines how multinational enterprises (MNEs) in sunset industries integrate carbon capture technologies (CCT) with operational and supply chain dynamics (OSCD) to advance decarbonisation.

Permanent Pacemaker Implantation Following Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Incidence, Predictors, and Association With Reduced Ischemic Stroke Risk

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Development of conduction abnormalities requiring pacing after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is relatively common. The effects of post‐TAVR permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation on mortality, ischemic stroke, and cardiovascular outcomes remain incompletely characterized.

Extraction of effective elastic constants of perforated plates with triangular hole pattern using modal analysis

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
To extract the effective modulus of elasticity and effective Poisson's ratio, the natural frequencies of fully perforated circular plates with a triangular hole pattern are analyzed using FEA software.

Incidence of Lichen Planus and Subsequent Mortality in Finnish Women

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica, 2020
The incidence pattern of lichen planus (LP) and LP-related mortality are unknown. The aim of this study was to assess these factors, based on Finnish nationwide registry data including 13,378 women with LP diagnosed during 1969 to 2012.

Potential Analysis of On‐Site Oxygen and Ozone Production for Wastewater Treatment Plants

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
The potential of a power‐to‐gas process focusing on the oxygen stream to cover an upcoming demand of ozone at German wastewater treatment plants is analyzed. Economic and ecological parameters are compared to the conventional production of hydrogen and oxygen. Powered by on‐site produced wind energy, the process is deemed beneficial.
