The Bioprospecting of Mangrove Red Snapper Cultivation (Lutjanus argentimaculatus Forsskål, 1775) Using Floating Cages

open access: yesBiology, Medicine & Natural Product Chemistry, 2022
Mangrove red snapper is one of the potential and valuable aquaculture products. The high demand for this fish causes high fishing activities. This condition can threaten their existence in the environment.

Age- and Size- Based Reproductive Potential of Gray Snapper (Lutjanus griseus) in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesFishes
Relatively little is known about size- and age-based reproductive characteristics of Gray Snapper (Lutjanus griseus) despite a large recreational fishery along the west coast of Florida in the Southeastern U.S.A.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Penerapan sistem penyamakan kombinasi krom pada kulit ikan kakap merah (Lutjanus sp.) untuk bahan kulit atasan sepatu wanita

open access: yesMajalah Kulit, Karet, dan Plastik, 2020
The application of chromium combination tanning system on red snapper (Lutjanus sp.) fish skin for women shoe upper has been done. Red Snapper fish skin is a waste from snapper fillet industry that can be used as raw material for leather tanning industry.

Variation in the isotopic signatures of juvenile gray snapper (Lutjanus griseus) from five southern Florida region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Measurements of 18O/16O and 13C/12C ratios in the carbonate of juvenile gray snapper (Lutjanus griseus) sagittal otoliths collected during 2001–2005 from different southern Florida regions indicated significant variations in the ratios between Florida ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of brownstripe red snapper, Lutjanus vitta (Perciformes: Lutjanidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
The complete mitochondrial genome of the brownstripe red snapper, Lutjanus vitta was determined by MiSeq sequencing platform. The mitogenome of L. vitta (16,498 bp) encoded the typical 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes, and two non ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
