ABSTRACT The McMurdo Dry Valleys, the largest ice‐free region in Antarctica, are home to a cold‐desert hydrologic system of glaciers, snowbanks, streams, and lakes. Freshwater is also stored as dead glacial ice, which is poorly constrained in terms of ion concentrations and interactions with both in situ and overlying sediments.

ABSTRACT Pingos are large mounds with cores formed of intrusive ice that form in periglacial landscapes. These ice structures can form in regions of discontinuous permafrost, commonly as hydraulic or open‐system pingos, or in locations of continuous permafrost, commonly as hydrostatic or closed‐system pingos.

ABSTRACT Freeze–thaw processes cause periglacial creep (otherwise known as solifluction) which forms solifluction lobes. These are lobate features characterized by a steep riser (front) and a smooth tread (body). Despite the widespread occurrence of these lobes, the controls on their morphometry remain poorly understood. Research into solifluction lobe

Regional analysis of spatiotemporal trends in Colorado potato beetle abundance
Leveraging a large data set on Colorado potato beetles in Wisconsin, we examine spatial and temporal abundance trends. Spatiotemporal statistical models substantially improve fit and show that climate and management factors are positively associated with abundance levels.

Hybrid physics–data‐driven modeling for sea ice thermodynamics and transfer learning
Icepack–NN, a machine‐learning‐based hybrid version of the sea‐ice column model Icepack, is developed to correct state‐dependent forecast errors arising from misspecified snow thermodynamics, using neural networks applied online within the physical model.
