Nonthermal SNR emission

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1997
We model the temporally evolving nonthermal particle and photon spectra at different stages in the lifetime of a standard shell-type supernova remnant. A characteristic νFν spectrum of a SNR consists of a peak at radio-through-optical energies from nonthermal electron synchrotron emission and another high-energy gamma-ray peak due primarily to ...

Maximum SNR Analysis

2011
In this chapter an investigation is made of the apparent limit on the obtainable SNR of a 1-bit look-ahead sigma-delta modulator. The outcome of this investigation is that there is a point of maximal noise shaping, which depends on the filter order.

An investigation of SNRs in the magellanic clouds—SNR B0450-708 and SNR B0455-687

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2001
We are studying the nature and the spatial distribution of ∼80 supernova remnants (SNRs) in the Magellanic Clouds (MCs). A multi-frequency comparison of these sources involves the latest radio, IR, optical and X-ray surveys with angular resolution of ∼1′. Their morphology, birth rate and overall properties are investigated and compared with SNRs in our

Simultaneous SNR and SNR-variation optimization for sigma-delta modulator design

2014 12th IEEE International Conference on Solid-State and Integrated Circuit Technology (ICSICT), 2014
Given a loop-filter topology, a switched-capacitor sigma-delta modulator (SC-SDM) can be optimized with respect to its loop transfer function (LTF) coefficients. However, if the goal is to co-optimize signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and SNR-variation, fast computation of both measures becomes a critical issue. In this paper a simulated-annealing (SA) based

A reduced complexity SNR estimator

IET Conference Publications, 2009
This paper presents a novel reduced complexity SNR estimator, whose performances are comparable with the maximum-likelihood estimator while saving one half of the floating point multiplications and one third of the floating point sums. A detailed statistical description of the estimate, as well as simulation results, are provided. (4 pages)

Improved SNR Estimation Algorithm

2017 International Conference on Computer Systems, Electronics and Control (ICCSEC), 2017
As for several NDA SNR estimation algorithm for QPSK signal, their SNR estimation performance is poor. This article puts forward an improved low complexity SNR estimation algorithm to improve the SNR estimation range and accuracy. The mean, bias and variance of the new algorithm are simulated.

Coherent snr estimator performance

IEEE 60th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC2004-Fall. 2004, 2005
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is an important system parameter in mobile communication systems and other advanced communication systems. Coherent and noncoherent SNR estimators can be used to dynamically estimate SNR. In this paper, a coherent SNR estimator is proposed and its performance is provided.

Particle acceleration in SNRs

Advances in Space Research, 2000
Abstract We present the results of hard X-ray emissions from the shell of supernova remnants (SNR) revealed with the ASCA imaging and spectroscopic observations. The hard X-ray spectra and morphologies are consistent with synchrotron emission from extremely high energy electrons of 10–100 TeV.
