A Brief Review of Snubber Circuits for Flyback Converter
2018 3rd International Conference for Convergence in Technology (I2CT), 2018This paper reviews the different snubber circuit topologies for flyback converters. At low power levels, flyback converters are required to operate at fast switching frequencies to achieve higher power densities, low flux linkage and reduced converter size. However, at high frequencies, switching losses in flyback converters increase along with voltage

Snubber circuit design for GTO converters
Proceedings IECON '91: 1991 International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation, 2002The design of snubber circuits for GTO (gate turn-off thyristor) power converters used in electrical railways is considered. The amount of energy stored in the series and in the parallel snubbers is significant. For this reason designers are interested in limiting the losses connected with the trapped energy in the snubbers.

Experimental evaluation of MOS-FET snubber circuit
The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. Computer as a Tool., 2004This paper presents the analyses and the design of snubber circuits for low power dc-dc converters realized with MOS-FETs. The analyses and the design procedure are based on experimental evaluation. The appropriate user of the snubber circuit can increase the power range of the low-power dc-dc converters available as interacted circuit.

A new snubber circuit for multilevel inverter and converter
Conference Record of 1998 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. Thirty-Third IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.98CH36242), 2002This paper proposes a new snubber circuit for multilevel inverter and converter. The snubber circuit makes use of the Undeland snubber as a basic snubber unit and can be regarded as a generalized Undeland snubber. The proposed snubber keeps such good features as fewer number of components, improved efficiency due to low loss snubber, capability of ...

Snubber Circuit for Marine Controlled-Source Electromagnetic Transmitter
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University (Science), 2021A high-power marine controlled-source electromagnetic transmitter (HP-MCSET) transmits a high-frequency conversion current on the sea floor. Some problems exist when the direct-current to alternating-current (DC-AC) launch bridge (LB) is used in the marine controlled-source electromagnetic transmitter (MCSET).

A new snubber circuit for inverters with GTOs in series
Archiv für Elektrotechnik, 1994An increase in the power handling capability of forced commutated inverters stipulates a higher operating voltage. A direct approach is to connect GTOs in series. Since the most common snubber circuits for GTO inverters are not suitable for arrangements in series, this paper presents a new snubber topology especially suited for such circuits and ...

A summary of resonant snubber circuits for transistors and GTOs
Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003Various resonant circuits are reviewed and compared in order to unify the different design methods that are available for low-loss snubbers. Two passive resonant snubbers are described in detail, with some design guidelines for selecting all the snubber components.

Passive soft-switching snubber circuit with energy recovery
2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008This paper describes a passive snubber circuit with energy recovery to the source. This circuit uses only passive components and can work with a full-leg power conversion topology, i.e., using standard IGBT modules. The circuit provides soft-switching, that is ZVS turn off, reduces slew rate, and increases efficiency around 1% under full load ...

Research on a novel active snubber circuit
6th International Conference on Power Electronics and Variable Speed Drives, 1996In this paper a novel active snubber circuit is proposed, which is formed by introducing an active transistor to the traditional snubber circuit. The active transistor shares the control signal of the main power transistor. The snubber circuit can soften the switching process and make high-frequency-operation and high efficiency possible. The simulated
