Existence of Solutions of Semilinear Wave Equations With Time‐Dependent Propagation Speed and Time Derivative Nonlinearity

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Consider wave equations with time derivative nonlinearity and time‐dependent propagation speed which are generalized versions of the wave equations in the Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) spacetime, the de Sitter spacetime and the anti‐de Sitter space time.

Matsumura‐Type Estimates and Global Solutions of a Fractional Wave Equation With Nonlocal Nonlinearity

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The main results of this paper are the global existence and long time behavior of solutions of a fractional wave equation with a nonlocal nonlinearity. The techniques in this work rely on norm estimates of the solutions of εutt+ut+(−Δ)βu=0,u(0,x)=φ(x),ut(0,x)=ψ(x),$$ \varepsilon {u}_{tt}+{u}_t+{\left(-\Delta \right)}^{\beta }u=0,\kern1em u ...

Phase‐Pole‐Free Images and Smooth Coil Sensitivity Maps by Regularized Nonlinear Inversion

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Phase singularities are a common problem in image reconstruction with auto‐calibrated sensitivities due to an inherent ambiguity of the estimation problem. The purpose of this work is to develop a method for detecting and correcting phase poles in non‐linear inverse (NLINV) reconstruction of MR images and coil sensitivity maps ...

Adaptive Sliding‐Mode Control of a Perturbed Diffusion Process With Pointwise In‐Domain Actuation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A sliding mode–based adaptive control law is proposed for a class of diffusion processes featuring a spatially‐varying uncertain diffusivity and equipped with several point‐wise actuators located at the two boundaries of the spatial domain as well as in its interior.

Recursive Feasibility of Nonlinear Stochastic Model Predictive Control With Gaussian Process Dynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Data‐based learning of system dynamics allows model‐based control approaches to be applied to systems with partially unknown dynamics. Gaussian process regression is a preferred approach that outputs not only the learned system model but also the variance of the model, which can be seen as a measure of uncertainty.

Decentralized propaganda in the era of digital media: The massive presence of the Chinese state on Douyin

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Political Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The rise of social media in the digital era poses unprecedented challenges to authoritarian regimes that aim to influence public attitudes and behaviors. To address these challenges, we argue that authoritarian regimes have adopted a decentralized approach to produce and disseminate propaganda on social media.

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Petrography and mineral chemistry of Northeast Africa 053—A remnant of Martian crystal mush

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract In Earth's igneous systems, crystal mushes, crystal‐rich frameworks permeated by silicate melt, represent a common and fundamental stage in the evolution of magma bodies. However, whether crystal mushes occur within Martian igneous systems and play a comparable role is unknown. Here, we present a comprehensive petrography and mineral chemistry

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 5, Page 1151-1298, May 2026.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

Isoperimetric inequalities on slabs with applications to cubes and Gaussian slabs

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 79, Issue 4, Page 1012-1072, April 2026.
Abstract We study isoperimetric inequalities on “slabs”, namely weighted Riemannian manifolds obtained as the product of the uniform measure on a finite length interval with a codimension‐one base. As our two main applications, we consider the case when the base is the flat torus R2/2Z2$\mathbb {R}^2 / 2 \mathbb {Z}^2$ and the standard Gaussian measure
