Variation of vegetation cover and the relationship with land surface temperature across Thailand (2007 to 2022)

open access: yesScientific Reports
Understanding vegetation-climate interactions is essential amid escalating global climate change. This study investigates spatial-temporal and seasonal variations in Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) across ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Looking at the big picture: demonstrating benefits of Bayesian latent cluster spatio-temporal analysis for understanding maternal prescription opioids misuse

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background As the opioid crisis rages, maternal prescription opioid misuse (MPOM) is particularly concerning because it influences both the mother and child’s wellbeing. However, little was known about the trend of MPOM and its county-level risk factors.

Association Between Pain Distribution and Limitations in Basic and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on the Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe on the Influence of Biopsychosocial Variables and Lifestyle

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Pain is a common condition among older adults and a key factor influencing daily functioning. This cross-sectional study examined how pain presence and distribution (no pain, localized pain [LP], and widespread pain [WP]) are related to limitations in ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Effects of an interdisciplinary programme on psychoemotional factors in informal caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) causes a progressive deterioration in the person’s memory and cognitive function, leading to a greater degree of dependency as the disease progresses. This causes a progressive increase in caregiver overload, leading to physical,

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Identifying sport-for-development outcome measures suitable for a living-lab setting: a scoping review

open access: yesBMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation
Background Sport-for-development (SFD) aims to use implicit features of sport (such as leadership, teamwork, and communication) to improve non-sport-related outcomes, including physical health, physical literacy, mental health, and social competency ...
