A shape-based heuristic for the detection of urban block artifacts in street networks

open access: yesJournal of Spatial Information Science
Street networks are ubiquitous components of cities, guiding their development and enabling movement from place to place; street networks are also the critical components of many urban analytical methods.

Communities and Hierarchical Structures in Dynamic Social Networks: Analysis and Visualization [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Network Analysis and Mining, Springer, 2011, 1, 83-95, 2014
Detection of community structures in social networks has attracted lots of attention in the domain of sociology and behavioral sciences. Social networks also exhibit dynamic nature as these networks change continuously with the passage of time. Social networks might also present a hierarchical structure led by individuals that play important roles in a

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Social Browsing & Information Filtering in Social Media [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Social networks are a prominent feature of many social media sites, a new generation of Web sites that allow users to create and share content. Sites such as Digg, Flickr, and Del.icio.us allow users to designate others as "friends" or "contacts" and provide a single-click interface to track friends' activity. How are these social networks used? Unlike

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Forecasting national CO2 emissions worldwide

open access: yesScientific Reports
Urgent climate action, especially carbon emissions reduction, is required to achieve sustainable goals. Therefore, understanding the drivers of and predicting $$\hbox {CO}_2$$ emissions is a compelling matter.

Framework for Ubiquitous Social Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
This paper presents a novel framework for ubiquitous social networks (USNs). Instead of making virtual connections, on the basis of human social networks, an effort has been made to facilitate interactions among human social networks with the help of virtual social networks. The imperative domains that support ubiquitous social networks are highlighted

Social Networking for Social Entrepreneurship

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2013
AbstractEven if social entrepreneurship is a young term in social science and still lacks a consistent theory to define it, being seen as “a large tent” (Martin et al., 2007) for all kind of activities, the social phenomenon of social entrepreneurship is becoming wider and stronger as ever before.
