Social Models for Social Robotics
2020Social robotics is one of the most important emerging technologies, with potentially profound socio-cultural impact. However, the current interdisciplinary research areas of “social robotics” and “Human-Robot Interaction” (HRI) are not yet equipped with the necessary conceptual tools in order to design interactions between humans and robots.

Abstract In the target article, Clark and Fischer argue that little is known about children's perceptions of social robots. By reviewing the existing literature we demonstrate that infants and young children interact with robots in the same ways they do with other social agents.

The purpose of this study is to describe the network of human and non human as the personal robot in the community. We designed an original program for the personal robot and took it to the nursery school. We participated in the community of the nursery school and supported the new play group that the children's mothers set up.

Although children are increasingly likely to encounter social and communicative robots in their lives, scholars of children, adolescents, and the media have only recently picked up on the subject. From the perspective of research on children, adolescents, and the media, this chapter therefore first presents a rationale for studying social robots and ...

Research on social robots is mainly comprised of research into algorithmic problems in order to expand a robot´s capabilities to improve communication with human beings. Also, a large body of research concentrates on the appearance, i.e. aesthetic form of social robots. However, only little reference to their definition is made.

Anthropomorphism and the social robot
Robotics and Autonomous Systems, 2003Summary: This paper discusses the issues pertinent to the development of a meaningful social interaction between robots and people through employing degrees of anthropomorphism in a robot's physical design and behaviour. As robots enter our social space, we will inherently project/impose our interpretation on their actions similar to the techniques we ...

Robotic telepresence, also known as telerobotics is a subfield of telepresence whose aim is to increase presence via embodiment in a robotic platform. In particular, robotic telepresence can be an effective tool to enhance social interaction suited to certain groups of users such as the elderly.
