"Hard Sciences" e "Social Sciences": Um Enfoque Organizacional

open access: yesDados: Revista de Ciências Sociais, 1998
The article offers an empirically guided discussion of the organizational model which Whitley has proposed for analyzing scientific fields. The central, empirically tested dimensions of the model refer to a consensus-forming process.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A Methodological Blueprint for Social Sciences Research – The Social Sciences Research Methodology Framework

open access: yesEIRP Proceedings, 2020
Most research practice constructs in social sciences are predominantly well defined and constructed, yet many authors hold different interpretations of certain key terms and concepts, causing a degree of confusion, overlap and uncertainty.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Social Sciences in Crisis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Islam and Society, 2002
DHAOUADI: Based on my own observations and impressions, one talks more about sociology as a discipline having a crisis, than about psychology or political science. How do you respond to that? SMELSER: I heard this kind of talk among sociologists.
