Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Nonexpected Utility and Coherence.

open access: yes
The descriptive power of expected utility has been challenged by behavioral evidence showing that people deviate systematically from the expected utility paradigm.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Equitable stormwater utility fees: an integrated analysis of environmental, socioeconomic and infrastructure factors at the community scale

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Infrastructure and Sustainability
Municipalities worldwide implement stormwater management programs to mitigate the hydrological and water quality impacts of stormwater runoff. Stormwater utility fees (SWUF) are often used to fund such important programs by collecting revenue from ...

Measurable utility for scientific influence [PDF]

open access: yes
I give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a cardinal utility function to represent, through summation, rankings of scientific units based on their journal articles and its citations.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Context and decision : utility on a union of mixture spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Suppose a decision-maker is willing to make statements of the form : "I prefer to choose alternative a when in context p, than to choose alternative b when in context q". Contexts p and q may refer to given probability distributions over a set of states,

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Mitigating Authorship Attribution in Social Media Texts: A Privacy by Translation Approach

open access: yesIEEE Access
The exponential growth of social media usage has raised significant privacy concerns, especially regarding adversarial authorship attribution. Social media texts pose distinctive privacy risks for authorship attribution due to their informal, high ...

A process approach to the utility for gambling [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper argues that any specific utility or disutility for gambling must be excluded from expected utility because such a theory is consequential while a pleasure or displeasure for gambling is a matter of process, not of consequences.
