Generation cycles in experimental populations of a multivoltine insect
Although theory suggests various mechanisms by which environmental and ecological factors may drive generational fluctuations, our field‐cage experiment is the first to demonstrate how internal dynamics and external disturbances jointly produce synchronised, large‐scale outbreak cycles.

Nanomorphology of the blue iridescent wings of a giant tropical wasp, "Megascolia procer javanensis" (Hymenoptera) [PDF]
The wings of the giant wasp "Megascolia Procer Javanensis" are opaque and iridescent. The origin of the blue-green iridescence is studied in detail, using reflection spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and physical modelling.

We studied oviposition site selection in a leaf‐mining moth (Stigmella sorbi) on rowan trees (Sorbus aucuparia) in northwestern Russia, assessing larval performance across different shoot types, leaf positions, and leaflets. Larval survival was highest on long vegetative shoots, yet females showed no preference for these optimal sites.
