Opinion Formation in Laggard Societies
We introduce a statistical physics model for opinion dynamics on random networks where agents adopt the opinion held by the majority of their direct neighbors only if the fraction of these neighbors exceeds a certain threshold, p_u.

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

On Discovery, Genomes, The Society, and Society* [PDF]
Every ASHG President wants to be remembered for something and to leave the Society in a little better shape than he or she found it. On assuming my new title in January of 2000, I was concerned about the role of the Society and how well it performed in its chosen role. Two things were clear—we have a very good Journal that gets better each year, and we

Governing Pluralistic Societies [PDF]
Societies can be held together in many ways. Historically, many groups were linked by a common history, common ethnicity, and common religious and social values. These societies shared a unified set of norms dictating right and wrong.

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using

On (2,3)-agreeable Box Societies
The notion of $(k,m)$-agreeable society was introduced by Deborah Berg et al.: a family of convex subsets of $\R^d$ is called $(k,m)$-agreeable if any subfamily of size $m$ contains at least one non-empty $k$-fold intersection. In that paper, the $(k,m)$-
