Diffusion of Sodium and Copper in Compacted Sodium Bentonite at Room Temperature
ABSTRACTDiffusion studies were carried out with sodium and copper in sodium bentonite. The experiments were performed at room temperature and densities of the samples varied from 0.8 to 1.8 g/cm3.This paper describes the experimental methods used for the diffusion tests and gives the obtained measurement results.

Diffusion of Uranium in Compacted Sodium Bentonite
ABSTRACTIn this study the diffusion of uranium dissolved from uranium oxide fuel was studied experimentally in compacted sodium bentonite (Wyoming bentonite MX-80). The parameters varied in the study were the density of bentonite, the salt content of the solution and the redox conditions.

Buffering of pH conditions in sodium bentonite
ABSTRACTA bentonite buffer is a part of the engineering barrier system of the geological disposal concept for spent nuclear fuel in Finland. The chemical conditions in the bentonite porewater determine the solubility, speciation and diffusion/sorption behaviour of the radionuclides in the bentonite.

Diffusion of uranium in compacted sodium bentonite
Sorption and diffusion of uranium in sodium bentonite MX-80 were measured in aerobic conditions. The batch method was used for the sorption measurements and the steady state method for the diffusion measurements. Clear sorption was noticed only when high uranium concentrations were used so that the pH of the solution decreased. The diffusivities of ...

THE EFFECT OF SODIUM BENTONITE ADMINISTRATION ON VITAMIN A METABOLISM IN THE RAT
The inclusion of sodium bentonite in the diet severely limited the ability of vitamin A deficient rats to store the vitamin in the liver. This effect was observed both with vitamin A and with the provitamin β-carotene. Moreover, the liver weight per 100 gm.

Diffusion of Chloride and Uranium in Compacted Sodium Bentonite
ABSTRACTSorption and diffusion of chloride (Cl-36) and uranium in conpacted sodium bentonite MX-80 were measured. No sorption was observed in the Sorption tests, however, in the diffusion tests slight sorption of uranium was noticed. The diffusivities of Cl-36 were found to be strongly dependent on the compaction of bentonite and on the salt ...

Sodium Bentonite in Swine Diets
Journal of Animal Science, 1980Summary Sodium bentonite replaced corn in cornsoybean meal starter, grower and finisher diets at 0, 2 and 3% levels. Dietary bentonite increased rate and efficiency of gain in the starter period but not in the growing and finishing periods. Neither feed intake nor carcass measurements were significantly affected by dietary sodium bentonite level.

Wet-purification of a sodium-based bentonite
Materials Science Forum, 2013Bentonite mainly consists of montmorillonite, but is always associated with other impure minerals. In order to increase the montmorillonite content in raw bentonite from Xinjiang, this paper adopts wet-purification process which integrates the scrubbing process with streamlined centrifugalization.

Identification and Assessment of Natural Sodium Bentonite
Key Engineering Materials, 2014Disordered application of bentonite in the waterproof projects has caused irreparable damage to the economic and environmental for the shortage of significant identification methods of natural sodium bentonite. Considering the complex domestic situation of bentonite using, 3 types of natural sodium bentonite and 6 types of bentonite materials in ...

Sodium bentonite as a component in layer diets
British Poultry Science, 19891. Two hundred and forty Amber-link pullets were individually caged in a naturally-ventilated laying house and fed one of four isoenergetic, isonitrogenous diets containing 0, 20, 40 or 80 sodium bentonite/kg for 44 weeks. 2. No significant dietary effects were observed between treatments with regard to body weight at 20 or 64 weeks, age at first egg ...
