Determination of the Experimental Minimal Formula of Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a simple yet rigorous method to determine the precise chemical composition of metal‐organic frameworks using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Thermogravimetric Analaysis (TGA), and ultraviolet‐visible (UV‐vis) spectroscopy. This approach reveals overlooked inorganic ligands and provides accurate experimental molar masses, enhancing ...

Bio‐Inspired Structural Color Irises as Physical Unclonable Functions for Anti‐Counterfeiting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work employs colloidal photonic crystals to create macro‐to‐micro scale PUF anti‐counterfeiting patterns. Integrated with iris recognition algorithms, it establishes a multi‐layered optical anti‐counterfeiting system based on structural color irises.

Nanomaterials Trigger Functional Anti‐Tumoral Responses in Primary Human Immune Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanoparticles are used to improve immunomodulatory therapies, but the impact of drug‐free nanomaterials on the immune system remains unknown. Screening common biomedical nanoparticles (NPs) reveals that PLGA NPs enhanced NK cell anti‐tumoral activity and transcriptional activation in human NK and pan T cells.

Circulating Tumor Cells Shed Shearosome Extracellular Vesicles in Capillary Bifurcations That Activate Endothelial and Immune Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using microfluidic models of capillary networks, this study discovered that fluid shear stresses on circulating tumor cells transiting through capillary‐sized bifurcations shed a novel class of shear‐dependent large extracellular vesicle, “shearosomes”, whose proteome comprises of over 3000 distinct proteins.

Randomized preclinical study of machine perfusion in vascularized composite allografts

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This study was designed to identify the optimum machine perfusion parameters for preservation of limbs before transplantation, and determine whether this was better than cold storage. Normothermic machine perfusion at a pressure of 70 mmHg (NMP‐70) provided superior preservation to cold storage after transplantation.
