Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

Live yeast as a possible modulator of polyunsaturated fatty acid biohydrogenation in the rumen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In dairy cows, several studies focused on the effects of sodium bicarbonate and fibre on ruminal linoleic acid (c9c12-C18:2) biohydrogenation (BH) whereas literature is scarce about the effect of live yeast, used as a feed additive. The objective of this

Sodium Bicarbonate Antagonism of Sethoxydim

open access: yes, 1989
Research was conducted to determine the influence of water carrier quality on grass control from sethoxydim. Water from a well near Halliday, ND, where sethoxydim failed to control grasses, contained 650 mg/L sodium and 1650 mg/L bicarbonate. Both sodium

Lymphoid‐Tissue‐on‐Chip Recapitulates Human Antibody Responses In Vitro

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The presented lymphoid‐tissue‐on‐chip system allows culture of primary human tonsil cells at organotypic high density under perfusion for up to 4 weeks, emulates immune response to soluble vaccines and vaccination via peripheral antigen‐presenting cells and represents a useful tool to assess cellular interactions during homeostasis, immune responses ...

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.

Effects of buffering agents on high-intensity exercise performance and capacity

open access: yes, 2012
High-intensity exercise results in hydrogen ion accumulation, which can have a deleterious effect on muscle function, and thus exercise tolerance. Buffering agents are commonly used to enhance exercise performance and capacity. Two such agents, β-alanine
