Steady-state analysis of soft-switching converters

IECON'01. 27th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.37243), 2002
Steady-state analysis of soft-switching converters is treated in this paper. Finding the steady-state solution of soft-switching converters by means of start-up transient simulation may involve onerous computations and convergence failure because of the mix of fast and slow natural frequencies determined respectively by the presence of soft-switching ...

Soft switching of KY converter

2008 Twenty-Third Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2008
In this paper, the soft switching technique is applied to the KY converter to upgrade the efficiency in the neighborhood of the rated load and hence enhance its capability in industrial applications. The details of the soft switching for the KY converter are illustrated along with some simulation and experimental results to verify the effectiveness of ...

Soft-switching converters

2015
Switch-mode power converters are used in a wide variety of applications. In most applications, it is desirable to design high-frequency switching power converters to increase their power density. However, the switching losses are increased by increasing the frequency. Moreover, large dv/dt and di/dt produce electromagnetic interference. To minimize the

Smart power devices in soft switching applications

2000 IEEE 31st Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37018), 2002
A smart power device, having a monolithic cascode structure with a high-voltage bipolar junction transistor and a low voltage power MOSFET, is presented and investigated in soft switching applications. The basic characteristics of this device are described both in terms of its structure and electrical performances. In particular, the device behavior is

New soft switched PWM converter

PESC Record. 27th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2002
A new soft switched pulse width modulation (PWM) converter which operates a fixed frequency is proposed. The main switches are always switched at zero voltage, and the auxiliary switches are softly switched. The voltage and current stresses of the switches are minimized as in conventional PWM converters.

A New Three-Level Soft-Switched Converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2004
A three-level, constant-frequency, isolated converter which employs a coupled inductor to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the primary switches in the entire line and load range is described. Because the coupled inductor does not appear as a series inductance in the load current path, it does not cause a loss of duty cycle or severe voltage ...

A soft-switching inverter using a voltage clamp soft-switching step-up/down DC link

2012 IEEE Third International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies (ICSET), 2012
A soft-switching pulse-width-modulation single-phase inverter using a voltage clamp soft-switching step-up/down dc link is proposed in this paper. The proposed voltage clamp soft-switching step-up/down not only provides the switches in the section of conventional PWM buck inverter operate at zero-voltage-switching (ZVS), but it has a step-up/down input

Switching-invariant models of soft-switching cells

2001 IEEE 32nd Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37230), 2002
In this paper, a model representing the switching invariant properties of soft-switching cells is presented. On the basis of the application of the compensation theorem and of the adoption of the switching cell modeling approach, a cause-effect model of the behavior of six families of switching cells in hard and soft commutations is formulated.

Low loss soft switching boost converter

2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2008
A new soft switching boost converter is proposed in this paper. The conventional boost converter generates switching losses at turn on and off. Because of those, the whole system efficiency is reduced. The proposed converter utilizes soft switching method using an auxiliary switch and resonant circuit.
