Soft-excess in ULX spectra: disc emission or wind absorption? [PDF]
We assess the claim that Ultra-luminous X-ray sources (ULXs) host intermediate-mass black holes (BH) by comparing the cool disc-blackbody model with a range of other models, namelly a more complex physical model based on a power-law component slightly ...

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

A Long XMM-Newton Observation of An Extreme Narrow Line Seyfert 1: PG 1244+026
We explore the origin of the strong soft X-ray excess in Narrow Line Seyfert 1 galaxies using spectral-timing information from a 120ks {\it XMM-Newton} observation of PG 1244+026. Spectral fitting alone cannot distinguish between a true additional soft X-

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

ASCA Observation of the New Transient X-ray Pulsar XTE J0111.2-7317 in the Small Magellanic Cloud [PDF]
The new transient X-ray pulsar XTE J0111.2-7317 was observed with Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics (ASCA) on 1998 November 18, a few days after its discovery with the Proportional Counter Array onboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

The Role of Soft Law in the Application of the Law: The Norwegian Perspective
The article explores whether soft law instruments—such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) and OECDʼs Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (OECD Guidelines)—have a role to play in the application of Norwegian law.

International Financial Standards and the Explanatory Force of Lex Mercatoria [PDF]
The global financial crisis has cast a strong light on some hitherto obscure corners of the financial world, provoking an outpouring of calls for concerted international action. “Hard law” having disappointed, can “soft law”, in the form of international
