Research on irregular plane mid story isolation structures in castor earthquake prone areas considering SSI effect

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The rock composition of karst area is mainly limestone, which is easy to be eroded and dissolved by water, forming a complex and fragile tectonics. Under the action of earthquake, the instability of stratum is aggravated.

Seismic Response Control of a Soft First-Story Building

open access: yesJournal of Disaster Research, 2009
A structure with a building plane 7.75 × 8.35 m, 47.8 m high, and having a height/width aspect ratio exceeding 6 has a building response that is difficult to control in both seismic and wind loading. We therefore changed the vibration mode from rocking to swaying by softening first-story translation stiffness and concentrating building deformation ...

Seismic Pounding between Three Adjacent RC Buildings Considering Soil-Structure Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesJES: Journal of Engineering Sciences
In highly populated cities, the close spacing of buildings often results in interaction effects, including structure–soil–structure interaction (SSSI) and seismic pounding (SP), which occur because of the limited gaps left between adjacent structures. In

Dual‐Interface‐Dominant Cathode Architectures Enabling Fast Sulfur Redox and Stable Interfaces in All‐Solid‐State Li‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An optimized carbon host nanostructure enables a dual‐interface‐dominant architecture in sulfur cathodes of solid‐state Li‐S batteries by selectively forming sulfur|carbon and sulfur|solid electrolyte interfaces. This tailored interfacial configuration accelerates sulfur redox kinetics by establishing enriched Li+/e– transport networks, while ...

s‐Orbital Mediated Metavalent Bonding Enables State‐Of‐The‐Art n‐Type AgBiSe2 Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metavalent bonding (MVB) underpins the exceptional property portfolio of chalcogenides. Typical MVB solids are mainly found in p‐bonded systems. This work reveals that MVB can also be formed with s‐p orbital interactions upon forming a single‐electron σ‐bond, as exemplified in AgBiSe2.
