Soft threshold stochastic resonance

Physical Review E, 2004
Soft thresholds are ubiquitous in living organisms, in particular in mechanisms of neurons and of neural networks such as sensory systems. Which soft threshold functions produce (threshold) stochastic resonance remains a question. The answer may depend on the information measure used.

Soft thresholding for medical image segmentation

2010 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology, 2010
A new soft thresholding method is presented. The method is based on relating each pixel in the image to the different regions via a membership function, rather than through hard decisions. The membership function of each of the regions is derived from the histogram of the image.
