Bridging between Soft and Hard Thresholding by Scaling
In this article, we developed and analyzed a thresholding method in which soft thresholding estimators are independently expanded by empirical scaling values. The scaling values have a common hyper-parameter that is an order of expansion of an ideal scaling value that achieves hard thresholding.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Spatiotemporal Video Denoising Based on Adaptive Thresholding and Clustering
In this paper we propose a novel video denoising method based on adaptive thresholding and K-means clustering. In the proposed method the adaptive thresholding is applied rather than the conventional hard-thresholding of the VBM3D method.

Distributed soft thresholding for sparse signal recovery [PDF]
In this paper, we address the problem of distributed sparse recovery of signals acquired via compressed measurements in a sensor network. We propose a new class of distributed algorithms to solve Lasso regression problems, when the communication to a fusion center is not possible, e.g., due to communication cost or privacy reasons.
