Reliability of Rapid On-Site Evaluation Achieved by Remote Sharing Systems (E-ROSE) and AI Algorithms (AI-ROSE) Compared With the Gold Standard in the Diagnosis of Lung Cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesRespirology
The use of sharing technology (E‐ROSE) and machine learning models (AI‐ROSE) could facilitate reliable rapid on‐site evaluation (ROSE) of cytology images. E‐ROSE has demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy; similarly, AI‐ROSE has shown good performance. These tools could optimise diagnosis in centres without dedicated cytopathologists.

Novel mapping techniques for ablation of non-pulmonary vein foci using complex signal identification. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Arrhythm
The complex signal identification function of CARTO version 8 enables quantitative evaluation of local potential fractionation. We present a case where this advanced technology successfully identified non‐pulmonary vein foci associated with fractionated potentials during sinus rhythm.

The potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida overcomes major potato resistance through selection on standing variation at a single locus. [PDF]

open access: yesNew Phytol
Summary Globodera pallida poses a major threat to potato production, with management strategies primarily relying on genetic resistance. However, increasing virulence in field populations across Western Europe raises major concerns for G. pallida control.

Robert K. Merton e il software libero: gli imperativi istituzionali della ricerca scientifica nell’etica hacker

open access: yesQuaderni di Sociologia, 2007
Free (and open source) software can be considered a sort of «total social phenomenon» in contemporary information society: it includes elements pertaining to the cultural, organizational and economical sphere and many others.

Linking Brain Morphometry to Psychometric Measures and Energy‐Metabolic Biomarkers in Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 19, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with differences in neurodevelopment and altered metabolism, yet the interplay between brain morphometry, mitochondrial and energy metabolism biomarkers, and autistic traits in adults remains poorly understood. This study investigates the link between brain structure, psychometric measures, and both

Modelling bedload transport at the network scale in a glacier‐fed Alpine river system

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 7, July 2026.
We adapted the network‐scale sediment transport and connectivity model D‐CASCADE for Alpine environments and applied it to the Sulden/Solda catchment (Italy). For the first time, we validate the model with continuous bedload measurements at the catchment outlet and evaluate the plausibility of bedload dynamics along the river network with field ...

Prospective Trial of Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation of High Dominant Frequencies After Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Non‐Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAD‐AF Trial): A Multicenter, Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 7, Page 1410-1420, July 2026.
In persistent AF, adjunctive dominant frequency‐guided ablation after pulmonary vein isolation did not significantly improve outcomes. Limited overlap between high‐frequency sites and low‐voltage areas suggests functional–structural dissociation, while right atrial low‐voltage burden predicts recurrence.

A single JAK2‐V617F hematopoietic stem cell can initiate myeloproliferative neoplasm when transplanted into non‐conditioned recipient mice

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are clonal disorders of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) that are most frequently caused by acquired somatic mutations in JAK2. A number of conditional mouse models of JAK2‐V617F‐driven MPN have been generated that rely on Cre‐LoxP‐mediated activation, resulting in polyclonal disease.
