Software reliability prediction and release time management with coverage
International Journal of Quality & Reliability Management, 2021PurposeSoftware testing is needed to produce extremely reliable software products. A crucial decision problem that the software developer encounters is to ascertain when to terminate the testing process and when to release the software system in the ...

During the last decade there have appeared in the literature many contributions on the reliability aspects of computer hardware, but relatively few on software. We see this balance changing as software is now becoming the most expensive and complex item in a computer installation. This situation is intensifying as applications become more sophisticated,

IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1985
THIS is the second part of the special issue on Software Reliability. Part I was published in December 1985 and dealt with software reliability estimation, new modeling techniques, management issues, testing and verification, and fault-tolerant programs. Papers in this issue address software reliability models, hardware-software effects, fault-tolerant

Certifying the reliability of software
IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1986A description is given of a procedure for certifying the reliability of software before its release to users. The ingredients of this procedure are a life cycle of executable product increments, representative statistical testing, and a standard estimate of the MTTF (mean time to failure) of the product at the time of its release.

International Statistical Review / Revue Internationale de Statistique, 1994
Summary: Probability models and statistical methods are a popular technique for evaluating the reliability of computer software. This paper reviews the literature concerning these methods, with an emphasis on the historical perspective. The use of stochastic techniques is justified, and the various probability models that have been proposed, along with

Software Quality And Reliability
Proceedings of the 1978 annual conference on - ACM 78, 1978Has the institutionalization of software quality and reliability within industry and government improved software products and systems? And, if so, can this improvement be meaningfully quantified and the recipients of its benefits identified? There is no simple answer to these questions since there may be no quantitative proof that things have improved.
