Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Review of ImageMaster Close-Range Photogrammetry Software by Topcon

open access: yesInternet Archaeology, 2008
One close-range photogrammetry solution that stands somewhere between high-level photogrammetry with metric cameras, laser scanning and Photomodeler is ImageMaster (formerly PI-3000) from Topcon and distributed in the UK by TerraDat Geomatics ...

SOFTWARE APPLICATION FOR EMBODIED ENERGY BUILDING CALCULATION: A REVIEW

open access: yesDimensi: Journal of Architecture and Built Environment, 2022
There are two types of building energy consumption, namely embodied energy and building operational energy. Studies on operational energy have been widely discussed, while studies on building embodied energy are still quite rare to be studied, especially

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Does OO sync with the way we think? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Given that corrective-maintenance costs already dominate the software life cycle and look set to increase significantly, reliability in the form of reducing such costs should be the most important software improvement goal.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Book review: The Software Arts

open access: yesNordic Journal of Science and Technology Studies, 2020
The words “computing” and “software” are sure to create some images in your mind. These images might be of machines or data chips, circuit boards or Boolean algebra, perhaps even sentient machines of the science fiction type. In The Software Arts (2019),

Lessons from applying the systematic literature review process within the software engineering domain

open access: yesJournal of Systems and Software, 2007
A consequence of the growing number of empirical studies in software engineering is the need to adopt systematic approaches to assessing and aggregating research outcomes in order to provide a balanced and objective summary of research evidence for a ...
